We Live, Work & Play In Burnaby
At GBC Law, we believe that being a good neighbour matters.
We Are Passionate About Being Involved!
Connecting with and giving back to our community isn’t just something we do once in a while – it’s part of who we are. We live, work, and play in Burnaby, and we take pride in showing up to support the people, causes, and organizations that make our community stronger. For us, it’s about building genuine connections, sharing time, and creating moments that make a difference.
Giving Back Together
Throughout the year, our team participates in a variety of local initiatives and volunteer programs. Whether we’re packing food hampers, wrapping gifts, or collecting supplies, these moments remind us what it means to practice kindness beyond the office. We believe that small, consistent acts of care can have a big impact when done together.
Some of our recent initiatives include:
- Volunteering at food banks organized by Refood, Greater Vancouver Food Bank, and The Salvation Army
- Helping at the Metropolis Charity Gift Wrap in support of the Burnaby Neighbourhood House
- Organizing a food and supplies drive for the Burnaby SPCA
- Coordinating a clothing drive for the Elizabeth Fry Society
- Hosting a school supplies drive for the Burnaby Neighbourhood House
- Taking part in the London Drugs Stocking Stuffers for Seniors campaign
Connected Beyond the Firm
Our community connection goes beyond firm-wide initiatives. Many of our lawyers and staff give their time and expertise to local organizations, schools, and charitable boards. You’ll find our team mentoring youth, supporting local events, coaching sports teams, and providing pro-bono legal guidance to community programs. These individual efforts show that community care isn’t something we switch on and off – it’s part of how we live our values every day.
Our founder, Greg, has been deeply involved with the South Burnaby Metro Club for decades. Over the years, he volunteered his evenings and weekends to coach, support, and encourage young athletes. For Greg, soccer was a lot more than just a game; it was about giving back to the community that helped shape him and sharing lessons in teamwork, dedication, and respect with the next generation.
Cynthia, our current owner, serves on the Board of Directors for the Burnaby Board of Trade and chairs its Women Advisory Committee, where she stays closely connected to the local business community. That connection keeps her in tune with the challenges and opportunities faced by small business owners – insights she brings directly to her clients. Cynthia also gives her time to the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers, mentoring law students as they begin their careers and helping build a more supportive and inclusive legal community and is part of the Women for Wishes campaign where she organizes and takes part in fundraising efforts to support the Make a Wish Foundation.
Why It Matters
At GBC Law, we’re proud to be part of a community that inspires us daily, and we’re committed to doing our part to make it even stronger. We approach community involvement with the same values that we bring to our legal work.
We believe that when good people come together with shared purpose, meaningful change happens – not through grand gestures, but through consistent, genuine effort.
